'People are fearful' - the reasons 'unstoppable force' Arsenal have become the team to beat.

There's no doubt why Arsenal have become many people's top picks to claim the Premier League this season.

Consider their performances against Newcastle and Crystal Palace versus those equivalent matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them in the current season, but dropped 10 points across those games as they faded in the title race in the prior campaign.

Defensive Dominance

Arsenal's defensive strength is a key reason why they are appearing strong to finally fulfil their title goal.

They rank top for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), opposition efforts (72), quality opportunities against (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the best in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Dead-Ball Superiority

Their effectiveness from free kicks is widely recognized, but rival sides still struggle to stop the Gunners from these situations.

They have notched 11 times from set-pieces in the league, a couple extra than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can do a bit of everything now. The whole team has a fear factor. People are just afraid of them and it is excellent to see."

Title Potential

What is particularly remarkable about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also played Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United on the road and Manchester City in their own stadium - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they maintain victories, their long-standing opponents face difficulties. This marks the initial occasion at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The pressure was on head coach Mikel Arteta at the outset, having allocated around £250m on eight summer acquisitions in pursuit of that coveted first title since 2004.

But the business has so far proven successful in impressive fashion, with his side second top scorers in the league and boasting the strongest defense, despite multiple injuries.

  • Clean sheets in each of their last three Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only three goals in 12 games across all competitions

Former players and analysts have characterized Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and purpose.
